This is an image of a sailing schooner loaded with quarry stone that sank in Lake Erie. It is known in the local area as the "Stone Wreck" and is about 80 feet in length. This image was obtained with the Klein sonar system 595. The frequency used was 500 kHz. The sonar image shows the bow in the lower section, and some deck detail in dark on the wreck. Good detail is shown by the acoustic shadow (light area). Also shown in the image is acoustic refraction. This is the dark wispy areas to the right side of the image.
