Simple operation and professional performance
The Battery Monitoring System is a central measuring and evaluation system for main batteries aboard submarines.
Microprocessor control continuously and directly inducates the most important data on the condition of the batteries and conseqently suppliess decision aids for operational and tactical intents.
Necessary attendance, maintenance and repair work are simplified by the Battery Monitoring System, the availability of the main batteries is consequently improved.
The battery conditions are permanently monitored and the battery and the system status are indicated on the display of the control unit. The display and operation are performed via a clearly arranged representation on several display pages.
The following relevant battery data is measured:
- Voltage of each single battery cell
- Acid temperature of pilot cell
- Current of each partial battery
After data logging and pre-processing the following data are calculated:
- Average and extreme value of cell voltages and acid temperature measurements
- Power and voltage of each partial battery
- Charge and discharge battery capacity in ampere-hours of each partial battery
Furthermore depending on the actual current or a predicted current power the system is able to estimate:
- Residual discharging time
- Charging time and
- Residual capacity
In addition the Battery Monitoring System provides a cursor controlled single cell monitoring via the control and display module that gives the operator a quick and detailed survey of each battery cell.
The Battery Monitoring System uses three simple menu screens
