PILOTSTAR D
A New
Digital AutoPilot
Concept

With its design and simple operation, the PilotStar D is especially conceived for small professional vessels as well as yachts.

For course control, gyro- and magnetic- or fluxgate compasses can be connected. Through automatic adaptation to the ship's speed, the control behavior of the PilotStar D is continuously optimized.

Course changes are carried out with selectable rate of turn. Course monitoring (set course/magnetic compass reference) and steering gear monitoring are integrated into the system; all control parameters are displayed continuously.

Two sets of parameters can be stored for different sailing conditions.

The simple operation of the equipment ensures safe navigation: the course is set via a turn knob, as well as membrane keys including dodge function.

Main Features

The PilotStar D can be adapted to:

  • Steering gears with switching and proportional solenoids
  • Rudder propellers
  • Twin-rudder equipment
  • Water jet drives
  • Voith drives (option)

The Pilotstar D is compliant with the corresponding MED 96/98/EC (Wheelmark) type approval requirements, Certificate No. 6180/103/99, and also type approved by:

  • CCS, China Classification Society
  • PRS, Polish Register of Shipping
  • Russian Department of Maritime Transport
  • Russian Maritime Register of Shipping

System extensions

  • Direct connection of up to three tillers (NFU, FU) with Take-Over-Systems.
  • Direct connection of up to three operator units (main- and remote steering stands).
  • Direct connection of two separate rudder position indicators.
  • Direct connection of multi-function displays for:
      • heading
      • set course
      • speed.
  • Direct connection to a video plotter, navigation receiver or ECDIS.

Connectable Sensors

  • Gyro compass with transmission system:
      • Anschütz course bus system Digital Gyro Std. 20
      • 6 Steps/degree system
  • Magnetic compass with transmission system:
